Rome - Cost of Living
Rome can be an expensive place to live. While less expensive than London, Amsterdam and Paris, Americans and some other Europeans may find it more expensive to live in Rome than other large cities.even for a short stay. But if you venture even a little out of the main tourist spots prices will drop by as much as 50%. Standing to drink your coffee is between 65 cents and 90 cents but sit down and drink the same coffee it will cost Euro 1.30 to over Euro 4 or more depending where your sitting and what the view your looking at is.
.
Prices have risen a lot since the introduction of the Euro. Although bus fares and apartment rentals are cheaper in Italy than in the most cities, other items are more expensive, e.g. meat, utilities, clothing, eating out , canned goods and gasoline.
Property prices have gone crazy, Italian people being the non trusting lot they are have invested big time in property and have left the stocks and other investments which turned sour in recent years so prices have risen to crazy prices.
